NightScape Stacker: Nightscape Image Stacking for Landscape Astrophotography
Landscape Astrophotography

Stop juggling four apps
to finish one image.

NightScape Stacker handles stacking, AI denoising, star removal or reduction, and gradient removal in a single workflow. No exports between tools, no separate purchases. $99 one-time, Mac, Windows, Linux.

How It Works

From raw frames to finished image
in four steps.

01

Stack

Import your 16-bit TIFF files, then let the AI sky mask separate sky from foreground. The sky registers to the stars, the foreground to the landscape, stacked independently and blended seamlessly. A progress ring tracks five stages: dark calibration, load and mask, align, stack, save.

Sharp ground, sharp stars. One 16-bit TIFF.

02

Denoise

AI noise reduction tuned for astrophotography. Dial in the Strength to control how much denoising is applied, and the Detail slider to protect star edges and the horizon. A before/after split slider lets you drag across the image to compare the original and denoised result in real time.

A cleaner sky with full detail preserved, ready for the next step.

03

Star Removal / Reduction

Two modes: star removal and star reduction. Star removal saves two files at once: a starless image and an isolated star map on a black background. Use the starless base for gradient removal, or blend the star layer at any opacity in Lightroom. Star reduction shrinks bloated stars without removing them entirely.

Removal: starless image + star map. Reduction: stars shrunk in place.

04

Gradient Removal

Gradient removal strips light pollution from the sky. The same AI sky mask identifies sky pixels automatically and fits a mathematical surface to the background. Choose TPS for irregular gradients or Polynomial for simple ones. Any control change re-processes in under 2 seconds. Each tool auto-loads the output of the previous step. No hunting for files.

A gradient-corrected image, ready for Lightroom.

Features

Built for landscape astrophotography.

Stack

An AI sky mask separates your image into sky and foreground regions. The sky registers to the stars, the foreground to the landscape, each stacked independently and blended seamlessly. Sharp ground and sharp stars in one image. No other stacker handles the landscape astrophotography problem this way.

4-step wizard. Dark frame calibration support. 16-bit TIFF output.

Denoise

AI noise reduction tuned for astrophotography. A Strength slider controls how much denoised output is blended in. Start at 25% for clean stacks, go higher for single exposures. A Detail slider protects stars, the horizon, and sharp edges from over-smoothing. A before/after split slider lets you compare instantly at any point in the image.

Strength + Detail sliders. Before/after split slider. Outputs {name}-denoised.tif.

Star Removal / Reduction

Two modes: star removal and star reduction. Star removal produces two files at once: a starless image and an isolated star map on a black background. Blend the star layer at any opacity in Lightroom, grade stars and sky independently, or use the starless base for gradient removal. Star reduction shrinks bloated stars without eliminating them entirely. A Clean Up button runs a secondary noise pass.

Star removal: starless image + star map. Star reduction: stars shrunk in place.

Gradient Removal

Gradient removal strips light pollution and vignetting from the sky. The same AI mask used for stacking identifies sky pixels automatically and fits a correction surface. Choose TPS (Thin Plate Spline) for irregular gradients or Polynomial for simple ones. Adjusting any control re-processes in under 2 seconds with a live preview.

TPS and Polynomial methods. Auto sky detection or manual sample points.

Native Desktop App

Built as a native desktop application for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Runs locally on your machine. Your photos never leave your computer. AI models are bundled with the app, so no internet connection is required for processing.
