Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 3, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how NightScape Stacker ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information about you when you visit our website (nightscaperstacker.com) or purchase and use our desktop software.

NightScape Stacker is a desktop application that runs entirely on your computer. Your photos are never uploaded to any server — all image processing happens locally on your machine. We have no technical access to any images you process with the software.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Purchase Information

When you purchase a license, our third-party payment processor collects your name, email address, billing address, and payment card details. We receive your name, email address, and license details so we can deliver your license key and provide support. We do not store your payment card information on our systems.

1.2 License and Account Information

We maintain a record of your license key, purchase date, and associated email address for the purpose of license validation, delivering updates, and providing support. This information is retained for as long as your license is active.

1.3 Website Analytics

Our website may use privacy-focused analytics services (such as Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate traffic patterns — for example, how many people visit the site and which pages are most popular. These services do not use cookies, do not track you across other websites, and do not collect personally identifiable information. We use this data only to understand how our website is performing.

1.4 Support Communications

When you contact us for support by email or through our contact form, we retain the content of those communications to help resolve your issue and improve the product. We do not share support communications with third parties except as required to resolve your issue (for example, if your issue involves a third-party service we use).

1.5 Crash and Diagnostic Reports

If the application encounters an unexpected error, it may optionally prompt you to submit a crash report. Crash reports may include information about your operating system, application version, and the state of the application at the time of the crash. Crash reports do not include your photos or any image data. Submission of crash reports is voluntary.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect the following:

  • Your photos or image data. All photo processing in NightScape Stacker happens on your computer. No images are transmitted to us or any third party.
  • Precise location data. We do not request or collect your GPS location.
  • Browsing history. We do not track your activity on other websites.
  • Device identifiers beyond what is included in a voluntary crash report.
  • Usage telemetry from within the application.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To deliver your license key and fulfill your purchase
  • To provide customer support and respond to your questions
  • To send you important notices about your license or the software, such as security updates
  • To improve the software and website based on aggregate analytics and support feedback
  • To comply with our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for targeted advertising.

4. Your Photos

NightScape Stacker is designed to process your photos locally. When you load photos into the application, they are read from your hard drive and processed in memory on your machine. Nothing is uploaded to any server. Nothing is transmitted over the internet. We have no technical ability to access, view, or store your photos.

5. Third-Party Services

Payment Processing

Your purchase is processed by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your credit card or payment details. Please review the privacy policy of our payment processor for information about how they handle your payment data.

Website Hosting

Our website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard web server logs, including IP addresses, as part of normal hosting operations. Please review Vercel's privacy policy for details.

Analytics

We may use privacy-focused analytics tools that do not use tracking cookies and do not share your data with advertising networks.

6. Data Retention

We retain your name, email address, and license information for as long as your license is active and for a reasonable period afterward to handle support requests. If you request deletion of your personal data, we will delete it except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes.

Support communications are retained for up to three years.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Privacy Rights

If you are a Colorado resident, the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA) grants you the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • Right to Data Portability. You may request your personal data in a portable format.
  • Right to Opt Out. You may opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, and profiling. We do not sell your personal data, use it for targeted advertising, or engage in profiling for decisions with legal or significant effects.

California Residents

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you similar rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us.

9. Children's Privacy

NightScape Stacker is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of our website or software after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
